Things To Do After A Carolina Car Accident

A car accident can be extremely surreal. A traffic accident is over in a matter of seconds, leaving you pumped with adrenaline, in shock, and unsure of what to do next. When you get into a car accident in North Carolina (NC) or South Carolina (SC), what are the first things you should do?

· First and foremost, make sure that you are okay. Sometimes you may think you are okay, but are actually in shock, and other times you may try and avoid an ambulance ride just because you feel overwhelmed. But the truth is that not all injuries reveal themselves immediately, and what may feel fine now may be a problem later. Especially if you feel you hit your head or if you feel confused, make sure you get to a doctor and hospital immediately.

· Collect information. Get the name, address, and insurance information of the other drivers involved in the accident. Also get the contact information of any witnesses at the scene of the car accident.

· Don't talk about the accident to others, except for your lawyer. Sometimes we feel the need to say, "I'm sorry," or otherwise apologize for an accident even if we were not at fault. Do not do that after a car accident. Instead, just get the information you need, stick with the facts, and don't claim fault.

· Stay at the scene of the accident until you talk to the police officers who respond to the car crash. Note their names, badge numbers, and police department.

· Keep a disposable camera in the glove compartment of your car and take pictures of the scene of the car accident as well as any damage.

· When you get home, read over your insurance policies thoroughly.
