Two Injured in OBX Charter Boat Accident in North Carolina (NC)

Fishing, diving, or even whale watching are all reasons you might charter a boat.  When you pay the owner of this vessel you are paying for a safe, enjoyable ride.  Unfortunately this wasn't the case in Fort Macon, North Carolina (NC), two people were injured when a charter boat grounded near Nags Head on Sunday, reports WTKR.

The Coast Guard received a report that two people were injured when the 55-foot charter vessel Outer Limits went aground in the vicinity of the Walter Slough Channel.  A good Samaritan was first to respond and transported four of the passengers, including two who had injuries, to Dare County EMS at the Oregon Inlet Fishery Center. EMS then transported the injured to the Outer Banks Hospital.  Luckily there were no fatalities and I hope those that were injured recover swiftly.

According to the Coast Guard Recreational Boating Accident Report Database (BARD), 685 people were killed in boating accidents in 2007 and an astonishing 3,686 people were seriously injured in boating accidents. These boating accident fatalities and boating accident injuries include trauma, drowning, hypothermia, and carbon monoxide poisoning - and boating accidents can occur on water vessels of all shapes and sizes, including canoe accidents, kayak accidents, sailboat accidents, speed boat accidents, jet ski accidents, pontoon boat accidents, airboat accidents, motorboat accidents, houseboat accidents, raft accidents, and rowboat accidents.

If the driver of the boat was acting in a careless, negligent, or reckless way then those injured may be able to file a claim for their injuries.
