Two Dead in Lincoln County, North Carolina Motorcycle Accident

A man and woman died in a motorcycle wreck recently around 11 p.m in Lincoln County, North Carolina.. James Austin Eaker, 46, of Vale, was driving his 1996 Harley-Davidson on Cat Square Road near Shoal Road, according to Sgt. B.E. Hipp with the N.C. Highway Patrol. Neither Eaker nor his passenger, Ashleigh Danielle Johnson, 26, of Lincolnton, were wearing helmets.

 

The motorcycle drifted off the right side of the road and struck a culvert and a mailbox. The victims were both ejected from the bike. They were found dead when emergency crew arrived.  An investigation is ongoing, but police believe that alcohol abuse contributed to the crash. There wasn’t found any sign of excessive speed.

 

The State of North Carolina prohibits the operation of a motor vehicle by any driver with a .08 percent or above blood alcohol concentration (BAC). The .08 percent limit is the standard demarcation criterion across the United States for the "impaired" driver. North Carolina has lower limits for drivers under the age of 21. Minors convicted for driving with any amount of alcohol in their body will have their drivers license suspended for one year.
