A speeding driver and innocent passenger were killed when the car they were in left the roadway on NC 88W in Smethport, North Carolina (NC) and crashed into the side of Ashe Abattoir, a local business.
The driver of the car was reportedly speeding down "radio hill" when it slid on a patch of ice, flipped and went airborne. The car then cut through a metal fence and plunged into the Abattoir, according to wxii12.com.
Our deepest sympathies go out to the passenger's family. This was a terrible car accident that may have been prevented if the at-fault driver had been more cautious and not violated the speed limit. This is especially true in bad weather conditions like icy roads. Unfortunately, we will never know for sure.
