Slick Roads, Speed Contribute to Deadly North Carolina Crash

Comments (0)

We're all guilty of speeding at one time or another. Whether it's 20 mph over the speed limit or just five, flouting speed limits can be dangerous. A recent fatal crash in North Carolina illustrates this.

The driver who caused the head-on collision on New House Road outside of Ellenboro, NC, was traveling 60 mph in 55 mph zone when she hit a vehicle in the oncoming lane.

She was following her husband in his truck when she decided to pass a slower car and her husband along a stretch just before a curve in the road. She lost control of her car on slick pavement and slammed into a 1999 Ford Taurus. She was killed on impact while her husband watched.

The driver she struck was seriously injured, suffering multiple broken bones. As North Carolina wrongful death attorneys, we offer our condolences to the victim's friends and family members and wish the other woman a speedy and full recovery.

If we can take anything away from accidents like this, it is the message to slow down, especially during rainy weather. When roads are wet, any marginaly risky behavior becomes more potentially dangerous.
