Police are blaming a school bus driver’s lack of paying attention as the cause of an accident which occurred in Indian Trail, N.C. Two dozen people were injured in the accident, including 21 students.
According to the accident report, the school bus driver was transporting 32 students to Piedmont Middle and High School, in Monroe at approximately 8:00 a.m. The school bus was traveling north on Unionville Indian Trail Road near Ridge Road. That maneuver caused the bus to overturn, landing on top of Toyota minivan, which had been traveling southbound.
The driver of the van, a woman from Indian Trail, was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center, suffering from broken bones and other injuries. The woman’s two year old was also transported to the hospital with injuries.
