Raleigh, NC Car Crash Leads to Death of Teenager

Underage drunken driving has claimed another life in Raleigh, North Carolina (NC), as a 17-year-old victim suffered fatal injuries at the hands of a 16-year-old drunk driver.

The victim was an innocent passenger when the driver lost control of his Jeep and crashed into a tree. Speed was also a factor; the vehicle was estimated to be going 75 mph in a 30 mph zone. When investigating, authorities found an open container of alcohol and a bag of marijuana in the Jeep.

The driver has been charged with felony death, a provisional DWI, reckless driving and speeding, according to WRAL.com. The judge in the case raised the driver’s bond after learning that he had prior convictions and was still on probation at the time of the crash.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the victim’s family. Losing a loved one is never easy, but the pain is even worse when the loved one is taken suddenly and at such a young age. The victim in this preventable wreck had her whole life ahead of her.

The victim’s family should contact a wrongful death lawyer in North Carolina. The driver is likely to face a criminal penalty for his careless actions, but that does not prohibit the family from seeking justice through the civil courts. To learn about what damages can be pursued in a wrongful death claim, take a look at this article written by an experienced Carolina wrongful death attorney.
