One Dead, One Driver Charged in North Carolina Wreck

A four-vehicle accident on Gum Branch Road near Richlands, North Carolina (NC), claimed the life of a 67-year-old man. The driver who initiated the fatal crash on February 13, 2012, has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle in addition to failure to reduce speed.

According to JDNews.com, the at-fault driver of a 2011 Volkswagen rear-ended two cars stopped in front of him and then had a head-on collision with a 1980 Oldsmobile. The driver of the Oldsmobile was taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital but later died from his injuries. The other two drivers were also transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
