Comments (0)

What Happened:

A Dodge Neon was driving eastbound on Route 826, west of Route 616 in Patrick County, Virginia, when it struck a school bus almost head on. The driver of the car, Charlie Lovell, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Two students also were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, as well.

The Virginia State Police stated that Lovell has been charged with failure to drive to the right side of the road. The school bus driver was uninjured.

North Carolina Personal Injury Attorney Perspective:

While no one was seriously injured in this accident, we all should be reminded to use caution when driving near school buses. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) states that there were 1,236 fatal school transportation-related crashes from 2001 to 2010. Please remember to slow down and be extra aware around any vehicle that is transporting children to or from school.

The families of the injured children could benefit by speaking to a lawyer in this case. They could receive financial restitution for the injuries that their children suffered in this careless accident.
