NC Truck Driver Kills Motorcyclist

Police are narrowing a search for a driver accused of leaving the scene of a North Carolina (NC) motorcycle accident that occurred on Seventy-First School Road and Bunce Road.

The NC crash happened at approximately 8 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2011, according to Gavin MacRoberts, a Fayetteville police spokesman. The victim was a 35 year-old staff sergeant who was killed when his motorcycle was struck by the of a truck turning left from Seventy-First School Road onto Bunce Road. The truck failed to yield.

According to a statement issued by Brigade Commander Col. Christopher J. Sharpsten, "This was a tragic accident that cut short the life of a man who was destined for greater things. [The NC truck accident victim] was a model leader in the Sustainment Brigade and he will be truly missed."

The awards of the victim include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Army Service Ribbon. The NC truck accident victim is survived by a wife and four children.
