NC Teen Killed in Car Crash

One teenager is dead in an early morning Catawba County, North Carolina (NC) car crash that also left two other people injured.

The NC motor vehicle accident occurred on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 just before 4 a.m., according to NC Highway Patrol. A 17 year-old passenger died after the car she was riding in crashed into a tree along Mt. Beulah Road, near Highway 16. A 20 year-old was driving the car, and NC troopers say he ran off the right shoulder of the road, overcorrected, then crossed the center line of the road and crashed. That driver, along with another 18 year-old passenger, were taken to Carolinas Medical center for medical treatment. The driver is currently listed in critical condition, while the other passenger is stable.

Trooper Lineberger of NC Highway Patrol stated that drugs and alcohol are not suspected in the NC auto accident, but that speed may have been. The driver was traveling at 70 miles-per-hour in a 45 mile-per-hour zone.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of the NC automobile accident victim who was killed, as well as the remaining victim still in the hospital. This NC car wreck is a sad reminder of the dangers of driving too fast. It isn't hard to image how easily tragedy could have been averted if only the driver had elected to stay within the speed limit. Below is another heartbreaking example of teens killed in a car crash:
