Multiple Tractor-Trailers Collide on I-95 in Rocky Mount, NC, Injuring Drivers

Comments (0)
Official accounts vary, but it is clear that a crash involving three tractor-trailers on I-95 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina (NC), sent at least one person to the hospital with serious injuries. The NC Department of Transportation reported that three other vehicles were drawn into the May 9, 2012, accident near Sunset Avenue and the merger with U.S. 64 and that only a single person required emergency medical treatment.

The local fire chief, however, told the Rocky Mount Telegram that only the commercial trucks wrecked and that two of the truck drivers sustained life-threatening injuries. Both accounts note that one of the trucks was a tanker carrying used cooking oil and that the oil burst into flames following the crash. The flames engulfed all three tractor-trailers, adding burns to whatever physical injuries victims suffered.

No cause for the accident was reported, and the investigation continues. When state police determine who was at fault for the wreck, any innocent people who got hurt should consider contacting an experienced North Carolina truck crash attorney to discuss the incident and determine whether they have grounds to claim compensation from the other driver or his trucking company.
