Man Hit and Killed by Car in Charlotte

Comments (0)

What Happened:

A pedestrian was attempting to cross the street in Elizabeth, North Carolina (NC) when he was hit by a car. The car was traveling on the right outbound lane on East 7th St. when it slammed into the pedestrian, a man named William Major, though known around Charlotte as "Chilly Whilly".

According to WCNC, there was a dent on the hood of the car and the driver’s side windshield was smashed. Mr. Major died from his injuries. Police continue to investigate and to determine whether charges should be filed against the driver.

Tragically, Chilly Whilly is the second crosswalk death at this location. In 2011, a woman was also hit and killed by a car at this location. And in 2010, three pedestrians were pedestrians were struck while attempting to cross the street. Residents and business owners question why, despite these accidents, there is no crosswalk at this location.

The North Carolina Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:

Our hearts go out to the Major family. They should consider speaking with a North Carolina wrongful death attorney to determine their legal options. If the investigation reveals that the driver was negligent or careless in operating the vehicle, then they may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim.
