Man Charged in Deadly South Charlotte, NC Wreck

A deadly accident occurred at the intersection of Providence Road West and Johnston Road in Charlotte, North Carolina (NC), on February 10, 2012. The tragedy that took the life of a 68-year-old man occurred when his car was T-boned. Another victim sustained serious, life-threatening injuries in the wreck.

According to WCNC-TV the area has been a source of constant worry for residents, who have been lobbying the Charlotte Department of Transportation for a left-turn signal for many years. Residents told the station that traffic backs up, making it nearly impossible for anyone to turn left before the standard light becomes red. As a result, many people run the light.

The 20-year-old driver of a Toyota Scion is being charged with causing the accident. Currently facing a charge of death by motor vehicle charges, police say additional charges will be forthcoming.
