Man Accused of Giving Alcohol to 13-Year-Old Who Caused Head-On DWI Collision

Comments (0)
A 13-year-old girl has been charged with driving while impaired after allegedly being given alcohol by a 23-year-old man at a party in Woodland, North Carolina (NC). The teen caused a head-on collision on Highway 35, in part because she was driving  with no headlights and had crossed the center line. Two people in the struck vehicle were hospitalized with injuries

Police have arrested the man on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, aiding and abetting underage possession of alcohol and giving malt beverages to a person under 21.

I get so frustrated reading about these types of preventable accidents. Some people may point the finger at the teenaged girl and say she should face the full wrath of North Carolina’s justice system because she was behind the wheel. There’s no denying the girl acted recklessly and irresponsibly, but it’s reasonable to argue that if the 23-year-old adult had not given her alcohol, maybe this wreck could have been avoided.

The people injured in the head-on collision likely have grounds to pursue claims against both the driver and the man who supplied the alcohol. To learn about what types of damages can be recovered through a personal injury claim, take a look at this report.
