Log and Pickup Trucks Crash in NC

According to the Sun Journal, a pickup truck was rear-ended Tuesday, April 19, 2011 after it slowed down for a farm tractor which was traveling at approximately 20 mph.

N.C. Highway Patrol trooper Jamie Wayne stated that the NC truck accident occurred at 1:12 p.m. that afternoon on N.C. 118, west of Vanceboro. The pickup truck contained a driver and one passenger – the latter was a minor. A log truck driver hit them from behind, and is being charged with failure to reduce speed. The two victims in the pickup were airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville. As of press time, there was no word on their medical condition.

Whenever you are on the road, it is imperative that you watch your speed. It’s not enough simply to make sure that you are following the speed limit – you need to ensure that you are driving slowly enough should road conditions change. Instances where a slower speed is appropriate include when there is inclement weather, motor vehicle accidents on the road, or slower vehicles in front of you. Whenever rear-end NC auto accidents occur, it is typically determined to be the fault of the driver in back. This is because the law assumes such drivers will leave enough room to stop safely stop should it be necessary.

Take a look at this live truck acccident to see what happens when drivers ignore such safety precautions:

NC accident attorneys may be necessary in these situations to help prove who was at fault, and how those individuals can be held responsible for their actions in civil cases. Be sure to choose a group that offers free consultations – at least for the initial visit.
