Officials had to use Jaws of Life to get the two victims out of the Nissan truck, and the injured woman was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital by ambulance while her son-in-law suffered head injuries and was taken by air to Baptist Hospital, where he is still recovering from his injuries. The woman died the following day in the hospital from the injuries she sustained in the accident.
Charges for misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to yield are pending against the driver of the F-350.
Our deepest condolences go out to the victim’s family. Losing a loved one is a gut-wrenching experience, but the pain is even worse when the loss is sudden and appears to have been caused by a preventable accident.
