Greenville, NC Roll-Over Accident Injures Two

A portion of North Memorial Drive near NC 33 West was blocked when a two-car crash happened on Wednesday afternoon at around 12:11 p.m.  However, traffic was not affected and kept on flowing.   Kathy Bradley, 43, of Greenville attempted to make a left turn off North Memorial Drive in Greenville, NC onto Easy Street.  As she crossed the southbound lanes, her Ford Expedition was struck by a Mercedes Benz driven by Jebrandon Jones, 24, of Oak City, NC. Bradley’s vehicle rolled on its left side due to the impact. The wreck blocked both southbound lanes for awhile.

N.C. Patrol Officer R.E. Jones arrived at the scene and found Bradley and Jones out of the vehicles and already walking around.  Jones was transported to Pitt County Memorial Hospital for treatment; information of his condition was not given.  Meanwhile, Bradley, who was cited for an unsafe movement violation refused transportation to the hospital.  It was not mentioned whether her injuries were serious.

According to Wikepedia, traffic laws are the laws which govern traffic and regulate vehicles, while rules of the road are both the laws and the informal rules that may have developed over time to facilitate the orderly and timely flow of traffic.  According to www.usatourist.com , the speed limit in most states is now 65 miles per hour (about 110 km/hr) except where signs indicate slower speeds.

As is often the case many drivers travel about 5 mph above the legal limit and the police often do not seem to charge such violations. When these rules are bent, accidents often occur and can cause life changing injuries to people involved and sometimes even death.  In instances where a driver must turn to the right or left suddenly, one must still use blinkers to signal one’s intention to turn to alert other drivers, being careful to use turning lanes specifically for that purpose.
