Fatal Hit and Run Driver Goes to Court in Raleigh, North Carolina

A woman charged with a hit and run car accident that killed another young woman appeared in court today in front of a Wake County Judge.

The woman, Phylicia Price, a 24 year old from Raleigh, North Carolina (NC) was having a dispute with another young woman, Whitney Mangum. At the time of the dispute Phylicia Price was in her vehicle arguing with Whitney Mangum who was standing on Hodge Road. Price sped away in her vehicle running over Mangum.

Witnesses told 9-1-1 operators that Mangum had been struck by a car and the driver had fled the scene. The Raleigh North Carolina Police Department located Price three miles from the scene and arrested her. She appeared before a judge today who continued her court case until October 19.

Price is charged with a felony hit-and-run and could face up to 30 months in prison if convicted.

Tragically, hit-and-run cases are rarely simple and can take time to resolve, even if the driver of the vehicle is located. As a personal injury attorney, I have witnessed several hit and run car accident cases. Even if the driver is located and convicted, it provides little solace for the family after their tragic loss. The mental and financial burden a serious or fatal car accident can cause on a family can be overwhelming.

An experienced injury attorney can go above and beyond the original court ruling to help get you what you need to pay for lost wages, medical bills, or funeral costs depending on the severity of your accident.
