The North Carolina Personal Injury Lawyers’ Perspective
Head-on collisions can occur for a multitude of reasons; becoming confused and driving down a one way street, passing incorrectly on a two lane road, falling asleep behind the wheel, speeding, not seeing or following road signs properly or driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol just to name a few. Statistics gathered from head-on collisions show 28.6% of head-on collisions result in fatality; 15.3% result in minor injuries; 9.1% lead to incapacitating injuries. A number of factors contribute to the severity of the collision, including what type of vehicle, speed, driver impairment, and driver behavior. The injuries suffered in these types of accidents are typically very severe and require extensive medical treatment as well as rehabilitation and long-term care.
