While there is nothing completely "routine" about a car wreck, perhaps the last thing a person might expect is to see the driver of the other vehicle run off in a foot race with police. That is exactly what happened in a recent event in Burlington, North Carolina (N.C.) . Police in Burlington responded to a car accident and subsequently got into foot chase with a suspect. The incident happened February 15, 2011, when officers were called to a car wreck on Tucker Street at Center Avenue.
Investigators said, Emillo Castillo Mavel, 30, was driving south on Tucker Street when he was hit by a car traveling east on Center Avenue. Police said the driver of the car that hit Mavel had run a stop sign, hit Mavel's Jetta in the right front fender , and caused the vehicle to be knocked off the roadway into a ditch.
It was determined that the driver of the other car, later identified as Terrance Evans, jumped from the driver's seat of the Toyota Camry he was driving after hitting the Jetta, and ran on foot into the Tucker Street Apartment Complex.
