A 19-year-old Blue Ridge High School student was riding in their friend's 2008 Honda Civic on Ridge Road in Greenville, North Carolina (NC) when tragedy struck. For some unknown reason, the car went off the road and wound up slamming into multiple trees. The 19-year-old passenger died at the scene of the accident, according to wspa.com.
The driver of the vehicle, who is only 17 years old, suffered serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Greenville Hospital. I hope they make it through this traumatic event.
As the father of two kids, I want to send my deepest condolences out to the parents who lost their child in this terrible accident. I don't know what I'd do if one of my children was taken from me in such a sudden, tragic manner. The pain they are suffering is probably indescribable.
As mentioned earlier, no one knows exactly what caused the Civic to go off the road. There could have been something in the road they were trying to maneuver around or maybe some type of mechanical error occurred like an axle breaking of a flat tire. We'll know more once the accident report is complete.
The important thing right now is to make sure the friends and family of the deceased victim starts to cope with the loss. It appears classmates are taking the first steps by spray painting messages of remembrance outside Blue Ridge High School. The 19-year-old student was also an athlete; more specifically a lineman for the football team. It appears they had a very bright future ahead of them.
