Alleged DUI Crash Leads to One Death in Durham, North Carolina

Comments (0)

What Happened:

A Honda Civic was driving on Interstate 40 near Durham, North Carolina, when it swerved into a Nissan Maxima in the next lane. Both vehicles flew off the eastbound roadway and flipped, totaling both cars. The driver of the Maxima, Brian Edward Kiley, from Goodlessville, Tennessee, died in the crash.

The driver of the Civic has been charged with driving while intoxicated. He was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The apparent drunk driving wreck happened east of Exit 273 in Durham County. The road was closed for several hours after the crash.

North Carolina Personal Injury Lawyer Perspective:

Drunk driving deaths are less frequent than 30 years ago: Recent statistics show that 38% of all fatal car crashes in 2011 were due to alcohol, while 60% of all crashes in 1982 were related to alcohol. Still, drunk driving deaths happen far too often, and should never happen. There is never any excuse for getting behind the wheel after having anything to drink, and we hope that if convicted, the driver responsible in this case faces the maximum penalty under the law.

Have you or a loved one been maimed by a drunk driver in an accident in North Carolina or Virginia? If so, you should choose your personal injury lawyer with care. That way, you are ensured of getting the maximum settlement for your pain and suffering. You should choose a personal injury lawyer with a firm stance against drunk drivers, and one that only represents the victims of drunk drivers. You also should look for a legal time with a history of winning big, six figure settlements for drunk driving victims.
