Alcohol and Speed Cause of Fatal Willow Spring Crash

Comments (0)

North Carolina Highway Troopers are citing both speed and alcohol as the cause of a fatal accident which occurred in Willow Spring.

According to reports from investigating officers, a 2009 Mustang was being driven by a 24-year-old Willow Spring man on Honeycutt Road. Police say the driver was traveling at a very high rate of speed, at approximately 2 a.m.

The car hit a culvert from a driveway, causing the vehicle to flip over numerous times. The Mustang traveled over 200 feet before it finally stopped rolling and came to a stop. Both the driver and his passenger, a 21-year-old woman from Garner, were ejected from the car. Police say it does not appear that either the driver or the victim was wearing seat belts.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver was transported to WakeMed and treated for minor injuries.

Police anticipate filing charges against the driver once their investigation is complete.

Sadly, our firm reports on drunk driving accident fatalities on a weekly basis. It seems that no matter how much is spent on educating the public to the dangers of drinking and driving, nor how stringent the legal penalties are, time and time again a person makes the decision to get behind the wheel of a vehicle after consuming alcohol. And because of that decision, a 21-year-old girl who had her whole life ahead of her is dead, her family never recovering from this tragic loss.

If you have lost a loved one in an accident caused by a drunk driver, contact an experienced North Carolina wrongful death attorney to find out what legal recourse you may have against the driver for your family’s pain and loss.
