A 13-year-old boy trying to cross the road near his apartment building, the Misty Woods apartment complex in Charlotte, North Carolina (NC) when he was hit by a vehicle. After the accident, the boy was taken to theCarolinasMedicalCenter where he succumb to his injuries.

It was a clear day, according to WCNC, which makes you wonder how the driver in this accident failed to see the boy crossing the road. Was the driver distracted? Speeding? We will have to wait and see what the accident report reveals.

Our deepest condolences go out to the parents of the young boy. This is a heartbreaking accident, especially given the victim’s age. This wreck illustrates just how important it is for drivers to always be on guard when approaching a road near a high volume pedestrian area such as an apartment complex or school.

The parents of the victim should consider speaking with a wrongful death attorney to discuss their legal options. If it turns out that the driver in this accident was negligent, the family may have grounds to pursue a civil claim.
