2 Year-Old Injured in NC Hit-and-Run

According to New York (NY) injury news, a speeding driver struck a car containing a 2 year-old, fleeing the scene and leaving the child in critical condition. The driver was recently arrested for this High Point, North Carolina (NC) crash.

The accident occurred on the evening of Sunday, January 9th, 2011. The driver who was charged hit another vehicle from behind, sending the toddler and her grandparents to the hospital.

Police report that the Toyota Corolla hit the Mercury Tracer along Fairfield Road. The first driver appeared to have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time. After fleeing, the suspect was apprehended at a home in Archdale. He faces charges that include driving while impaired, three counts of hit-and-run, driving with a revoked license, failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and felony serious injury by a motor vehicle.

What a tragic accident that could have been so easily avoided. Let us hope that the 2 year-old victim recovers, and that the offending driver is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Many safety lessons can be learned here, one of which is to simply not drink and drive. Keep your license in good standing, maintain appropriate speeds, and always stop at the scene of an accident. If you were harmed because a reckless individual failed to follow these rules and more, contact an experienced car injury attorney as soon as you can.
